Turin as a day trip from Milan: what to see in one day

One hour on a high-speed train and you’re in Italy’s first capital: the Egyptian Museum, the Mole Antonelliana, arcades and historic cafés.

Torino e la Mole Antonelliana

Train: high-speed from Milano Centrale, about 1 hour
Time needed: one day
Book ahead: the Egyptian Museum

Getting there

From Milano Centrale station, a 10-minute walk from the suite, high-speed trains reach Torino Porta Susa or Porta Nuova in about an hour. There are also regional trains, which are slower and cheaper.

The Egyptian Museum

It’s one of the world’s most important museums of Egyptian antiquities: statues, papyri and sarcophagi. Allow at least two to three hours and book your entry online.

The Mole and the centre

The Mole Antonelliana houses the National Cinema Museum; a panoramic lift goes up to the viewing terrace. All around are Piazza Castello, the Royal Palace, Via Po with its arcades and Piazza San Carlo.

Coffee and chocolate

Stop at one of the historic cafés for a bicerin, Turin’s layered drink of coffee, chocolate and milk cream, and try the gianduiotti chocolates. Before heading back, take a stroll in the Parco del Valentino along the Po.

Stay just steps away
