Day trips
About 2 h 25 min by train from Milano Centrale: the Grand Canal, St Mark’s and Rialto in one day.
By high-speed train, Venice is about 2 hours 25 minutes from Milano Centrale, which is a 10-minute walk from the suite. It’s a long day but perfectly doable: leave early and come back in the evening.
Train
About 2 h 15 min–2 h 30 min to Venezia Santa Lucia, which opens directly onto the Grand Canal. It’s best to buy tickets in advance to get the best fares.
Morning
As soon as you leave the station, take the line 1 vaporetto (water bus) along the Grand Canal: the best way to see the palazzi on the water.
Late morning
St Mark’s Basilica, the Campanile and the Doge’s Palace: for visits inside, it’s best to book online.
Afternoon
Walk back towards the station via the Rialto Bridge, getting lost among the calli (narrow streets) and campi (squares).
Evening
Evening train to Milano Centrale and a 10-minute walk to the suite, with self check-in at any time.
Tip: on some days, day visitors to the historic city may have to pay an access fee: check the latest rules on the City of Venice website before you set off. More ideas in our guide Day trips from Milan.
