What to see

Porta Nuova and Isola: Bosco Verticale, Gae Aulenti and modern Milan

The skyscrapers, the Bosco Verticale, the Biblioteca degli Alberi and, just behind them, Isola, a district of small shops, bars and restaurants. Two stops from the suite.

Bosco Verticale a Porta Nuova, Milano

From the suite: M2 green line from Loreto to Garibaldi, about 10 minutes, or a 25-minute walk
Time needed: 2–3 hours
When: at sunset, when the skyscraper lights come on

Piazza Gae Aulenti

The raised piazza with its fountain and glass towers, including the spire of the UniCredit tower, is the symbol of contemporary Milan. From here, pedestrian walkways link Garibaldi, Isola and Porta Nuova.

The Bosco Verticale

The two residential towers designed by Stefano Boeri – the “Vertical Forest” – host hundreds of trees and thousands of plants on their balconies, changing colour with the seasons. They can only be seen from outside, as they are private homes.

The Biblioteca degli Alberi

The park among the skyscrapers, with lawns, gardens and paths: perfect for a break or a picnic. In summer it often hosts outdoor events.

The Isola district

Behind the Bosco Verticale lies Isola, a former working-class district now full of small shops, street art, bars and restaurants. In the evening it’s one of the liveliest areas for aperitivo, with a more relaxed vibe than the Navigli.
