Oh Bej! Oh Bej! Milan: the Sant'Ambrogio Christmas market

Milan’s most Milanese fair of the year, held around the Castello Sforzesco on the feast of Sant’Ambrogio. From the suite it’s a quarter of an hour by metro.

Mercatino di Natale Oh Bej Oh Bej Milano

When: 4–8 Dec 2026
Where: around the Castello Sforzesco, Piazza Castello
From the suite: M1 red line from Lima to Cairoli, about 15 minutes

What is Oh Bej! Oh Bej!?

It’s the traditional fair linked to Sant’Ambrogio (St Ambrose), Milan’s patron saint (7 December). Hundreds of stalls selling antiques, crafts, sweets, roast chestnuts and mulled wine line the streets around the Castello Sforzesco. The exact dates are confirmed each year by the City of Milan.

Getting there from the suite

Take the M1 red line at Lima towards Rho/Bisceglie and get off at Cairoli: you’ll be right in front of the Castello. Alternatively, get off at Duomo and take a 15-minute stroll along Via Dante.

Combine it with

  • On 7 December La Scala opens its season: the square is buzzing all day long.
  • After the fair, a walk through Parco Sempione to the Arco della Pace.
  • Around this time Milan switches on its Christmas lights: the Galleria, the Duomo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele are well worth seeing in the evening.
